the mactable — an incredibly rare french postmodern desk designed in the 1980s by georges macé, later marketed in the u.s. as the computer table for apple’s very first macintosh. this was the desk featured in ads alongside the macintosh 128k, built to embody apple’s vision of clean, functional, future-minded design.
this piece combines striking aesthetics with thoughtful utility. beautiful pops of red accent the frame and support beam, adding subtle contrast against the pale laminate top and bentwood legs. every detail was considered for function: each tabletop panel can be adjusted in height, giving you flexibility for monitors, typewriters, or creative work. the rear panel shelf is perfectly sized for a printer, while the front modular cabinet holds all your daily utilities, with open cubbies and a drawer for supplies.
the bentwood legs curve gracefully, giving the desk its signature silhouette while ensuring strength and stability. stamped with the original mactable badge.
condition is excellent. one screw is missing from the bottom cabinet — easily replaced, and does not affect stability or function. the desk sits perfectly flush.
dimensions:
30 h 60 w 30 d
once sold, it’s gone. these desks almost never appear in the u.s., especially in this condition. a truly collectible piece of design history with a direct tie to apple’s earliest days.
