beautiful pair of vintage Japanese tansu-style step chests finished in a striking deep red wood tone with contrasting black metal hardware.
one of the coolest features is their versatility — the two chests can be arranged together into a large symmetrical statement piece, separated with an opening between them, or used individually depending on your space. perfect as low storage, a media console, room divider, or simply as a sculptural storage piece.
tons of functional storage throughout, including multiple drawers and compartments. the lower slatted sliding doors open to reveal larger interior storage spaces.
despite their substantial appearance, each individual chest is surprisingly manageable and can be lifted/moved by one person.
overall in great vintage condition with scratches, edge wear, finish loss and other cosmetic imperfections consistent with age and use. all drawers are functional and the sliding cabinet doors open properly. the existing wear gives the deep red finish a really beautiful aged character.
