a beautifully made set of four mart stam style cantilever chairs sourced from the 1970’s.
these are not your average reproduction. from the thick genuine leather slings to the heavy polished chrome frames, the craftsmanship is immediately noticeable. the leather has aged beautifully over the decades, developing a rich patina that only real leather can achieve. pieces built to this standard are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
the original cantilever chair was pioneered during the bauhaus movement in the late 1920’s by dutch architect mart stam. by eliminating the traditional rear legs, the design created a subtle floating suspension that became one of the most influential furniture designs of the 20th century. these vintage examples faithfully capture that iconic silhouette while offering exceptional comfort and durability.
overall in great vintage condition. the leather remains supple with only light wear consistent with age, while the chrome presents beautifully with minor signs of use. all four chairs are structurally solid and ready for another generation of everyday use.
please note: chair doesn't come with the curved chrome support beneath the seat. this does not affect its structural integrity or everyday usability, and the chair remains just as sturdy as the other three.
